Day 28
Name of God to proclaim and focus your worship to: Jehovah Shammah (je-ho’-va sham’-a) – The Lord Is There

Jehovah Shammah is the name for God in the Bible that is the name of a city. Ezekiel 48:35 says, speaking of the New Jerusalem, “All the way around shall be eighteen thousand cubits; and the name of the city from that day shall be: THE LORD IS THERE.” As a follower of Jesus this is the city of your future. (Take time to read Revelation 21:9-27) This name expresses a wonderful truth about God; He loves to be where His people are! I also discovered that Jehovah Shammah is the last new name the Old Testament gives for God and it connects to the first name given in the New Testament to Christ – Immanuel, which means “God with us.” (Matt. 1:23)
What does this mean for you today? Well, Jehovah-Shammah is already in your tomorrow. Although you cannot be in your future, and you can’t control the future events of your life, He is there and He can! Jehovah Shammah will walk with you into whatever tomorrow holds, He simply desires that you trust His heart.
Scripture Promise to claim: Jeremiah 29:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”
Read the promise above; although this is a very familiar promise, realize that God can give you a future and a hope because He is already there. Pray to Him, He is there! Look for Him, He is there! Ask God how you can trust Him with your future.
Listen and journal a prayer of response. Pray for those God puts on your heart that have fear of the future and are struggling to have hope.
